How SCORE helped.

Mr. Caleb Lindquist, CEO / COO, Heritage Used Auto & Truck Parts, Mobile, Alabama, is recognized as the South Alabama SCORE Chapter Small Business Client of the Year. Caleb has been responsible for managing his family’s multi-faceted business since his college graduation in 2004.

Caleb and his mother, Lynn, first met with SCORE mentors on March 10, 2009. Initially, the Lindquist family came to SCORE seeking assistance on general business operations and organization. Additionally, they requested planning guidance for the financing of anticipated growth. This encouraging and productive relationship continues to this date and encompasses many key decisions and significant growth in their business.

South Alabama SCORE Chapter mentors responsible for the business development efforts on behalf of Heritage Auto were Mssrs. Glenn Boom, Gene Graham, and Tom Hollomon. Many of the early meetings addressed current and projected business conditions, financial reports, and industry trends. In the press to identify and clarify issues and impacts, reporting errors on a D&B report were identified, a draft business plan was prepared and controls were established for accounts receivables In 2010, Caleb and his mother completed the business reorganization as an LLC, to include Caleb’s brother, now involved in operating the business. Coincidentally, formal compensation plans for Caleb and this brother were established. In 2013, they acquired a small auto wrecking business with its associated inventory and completed the construction of a building to enable expanded processing of wrecked vehicles, adding to their inventory of for-sale auto parts. They also added a new staff position to strengthen their management team and enable continued business growth.

During our periodic reviews, the business continues to demonstrate steady year-on-year growth and has accomplished this growth in accordance with rigorous environmental guidelines and established business best practices. We believe they are a most attractive business and a solid community asset.
